Lines on a Friday Afternoon

I’ve been run down I’ve been run down Trampled but breathing Bruised but alive These feet look ugly from below Deformed sticks, that’s what they are Suffocating others, their presence is unwanted How does it feel to walk on mishap bodies? You have good shoes, I believe.

I can barely see the light from below I can barely think from below Only when I trample others can I walk I will suffer this, then Be dead than alive Till I am completely numb And my mind is my universe.

How am I different? It seems my thoughts have been thought, my ideas have been invented, my feelings felt. I have a unique face, but then I am not sure.

I’m not a genius, you know, just a farm boy — a farm boy wanting to be different, wanting a life that’s not found, singing a song not sung, writing a poem not written. I’ll be back when I can think of something better. I hope I’m not completely lost.

I still sleep, eat food, drink beer. There are still forces greater than my mind, ticking across the soul of the world. You could die without them. Sometimes you do.
